Intra Ocular Lenses (IOLs)

The refining of phacoemulsification allows surgeons to customise IOL choice for each individual patient. The IOLtech acrylic implants from SD Ophthalmic provide a response to this need. Each individually designed implant is matched to specific criteria, in other words a range matched to the individual need of the patient.

Material Re-assurance

All small incision IOLtech implants incorporate a unique acrylic co-polymer - an association of MMA and HEMA, cross-linking agents and UV blocker.

MMA as a base polymer provides high optical clarity and mechanical resistance.

HEMA has a 20 year history in ophthalmology and provides flexibility

"Assured through more than 300,000 implantations and a 7 - year history."

Design Stability and delayed PCO

"An implant with 2 points of support presents risks of decentration, particularly as haptic size is reduced"
Indeed "..dislocation is the most common reason for explantation of silicone lenses"

All IOLtech acrylic implants feature:

Tri-Haptics

Easier to position and present better stability to lateral movement and assist in the prevention of PCO due to even tensioning of the posterior capsule and reducing the proliferation of lens epitherial cells according to the principle of "no space no cells".

Double Sharp Edge (DSE) - Haptic and Optic

Constitutes a mechanical barrier to cell migration

Re-assurance Stability Delayed PCO
