The streamlining of cataract services in the UK led to the introduction of speciality Day Case Procedures in which SD pioneered the use of ambulatory surgery chairs. This enabled the patient to be seated on arrival and travel through the whole procedure in the same ambulatory surgical chair thus increasing patient safety and comfort as well as speeding up the process, resulting in improved patient throughput. From this foundation of ophthalmic surgical achievement SD Healthcare today provides services in five distinct areas of operation.
